Analysis of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10: the 108 megapixels impress, but the 5,260 mAh falls in love.

The Xiaomi Mi Note series was dead, or that was what we believed until recently since the Chinese firm decided to revive what was once its high-end family, but then became mid-range. And he has restored it in style, with the first 108-megapixel camera we see on a smartphone.

Analysis of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10: the 108 megapixels impress, but the 5,260 mAh falls in love.

I have been able to spend a few weeks with the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. After using it as the leading mobile during the whole process, I will tell you about my experience with the device, but, I already warn you that, if the sensor size of the camera has impressed you, the battery will love it.

Autonomy is one of the aspects that most users value most when buying a terminal. And the truth is that every time manufacturers are improving more in this section, something that is great for users that for years We had to go through the experience of charging our smartphone one or more times a day, something that, of course, does not feel good.

As much as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is the first terminal with a 108-megapixel camera and with five sensors on its back, the truly amazing thing about this device is its battery. And what a battery. Its autonomy, without a doubt, is the best we can get in this price range, and even in more expensive terminals.

And, this device has a battery of 5,260 mAh, higher than the more than 4,000 mAh that usually include the freest smartphones in this regard, and that they will be able to give us about two days without needing to approach the charger Of the device.

The charger that comes in the box and that, by the way, is fast charging, specifically 30W, a good detail by Xiaomi, which gives us everything we need to charge the device at its maximum power right out of the box.

The experience with the battery, as I was saying, has been very satisfactory, and I have been able to enjoy an autonomy that has been around for two days, or even more if we use the battery saving protocols that MIUI includes.

If you are one of those users who greatly value being able to have a functional autonomy in your terminal and not having to go through the charger every day, then Mi Note is best for you.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is a perfect option, since it is a guarantee in this regard, but without adding extra thickness to the terminal.

The design of this Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has been a pleasant surprise, firstly by the update of the design lines of the terminal from its predecessor, the Mi Note 3, which followed some design lines with frames and with a fingerprint reader in the front that now costs a lot to see. Sign that we are moving forward.

A simple design that initially clashes a bit, but it is straightforward to get used to.

As for the colors and construction materials, I have been using the black version of the device, which, in my opinion, feels excellent, and the combination between glass and metal makes when we have it in hand we the feeling that we are facing a real terminal jewel.

In recent years we have seen how manufacturers, either by saving space or by strategic changes for the range in question, have decided to dispense with certain additives in their terminals, and Xiaomi is no exception. And you have to look at your mid and high range to see it.

And it is something that the company has remedied with this Xiaomi Mi Note 10.

Also, the device has a fingerprint reader under the screen, an addition that we see in more and more terminals of the company, and that usually works very well and is quite intuitive. I think it has a good response, and, as I said, the experience has been satisfactory.

In short, it is a terminal that has everything we need in terms of additions, and everything we can ask for a premium mid-range device. It is true that, on request, we could ask for water resistance, but this is something that only the high-end usually incorporates.

The 108-megapixel camera of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, on paper, is its greatest virtue, however, as is often the case with these technologies, it still lacks a path to offer an optimal experience when using this sensor.

I explain. When we open the camera, we are in a normal mode, in which the photographs are not taken at 108 megapixels, but at 27.1 megapixels, a resolution more than sufficient for the casual - and not so occasional - photographs we usually take, and in which the shot is fast, as expected.

However, when we activate the 108-megapixel mode and take a photo, the processing slows down the terminal, making the experience with this mode ideal only for specific situations, since taking two photographs in a short time seems complicated. It is not uncommon since we are talking about a vast resolution. However, we must choose well the situations in which we want to use this 108-megapixel sensor.

In the rest of the modes, the camera responds well, and now I will tell you how the experience has been with this one. However, I have to say that the potential of this resolution is incredible when it comes to cropping photographs and printing them, just as Xiaomi taught us in his presentation. It is brutal.

In general terms, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is a device that has an excellent photographic section, and if you like to take pictures with your device, you can enjoy the Xiaomi device a lot. The results that he throws at us are correct in practically all situations. However, the truth is that the portrait mode is the only thing that has left me a little cold since sometimes a very remarkable watercolor effect can be seen in the foreground.

However, having five rear cameras gives it a versatility worthy of admiration. Also, the fact that the ultrawide sensor is 20 megapixels allows that when we use it, we do not accuse loss of resolution, as happens in other terminals. As we say, it is a correct camera in virtually all situations, even in low light, since its night mode has surprised us for good.

For the day, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 meets what we expect from it. Excellent detail, right colors - although this is something that can be modified from the camera settings - and a dynamic range that, although it could be better, is quite correct. As I said before, the portrait mode is right, but it lapses on other occasions. Nothing worrisome.

The terminal takes the photographs without much delay, and the structure of the camera, although at first, it is a bit complex, it is easy to control as soon as we spend time with the device. In general terms, Xiaomi has done an excellent job in this regard. Also, the 108-megapixel mode is just a touch of a healthy way, so it does not take anything to activate it, while ultrawide can also be accessed by lowering the zoom.

As I mentioned before, and you can see in more detail in this comparison, by counting the ultrawide sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels, we do not accuse loss of resolution when using it. Of course, due to the location of the sensor itself - just below the protruding module - it is possible that sometimes if you hold the phone vertically, you have to remove your hand so that one of your fingers is not visible.

The main hallmark of this terminal is its 108-megapixel sensor, and the truth is that the day results are quite good. There is no wow effect, nor does Xiaomi intend it, since this adds value when we enlarge the photograph, maintaining an excellent resolution as we expand. Is it something that will be noticed in all the photos we take? No, but it is useful in many situations.

In fact, in many situations, it is not worth using it. Still, when we are taking an architecture photograph or at a medium distance, it is quite advisable to activate it, especially if you plan to crop the photo. Although you can always choose to use the optical zoom of the device, it also offers excellent results.

Some terminals take perfect photos of the day, but they falter when there is little light. This Mi Note 10 does not, and as long as we have the right amount of view, it will be able to offer a good result, especially if you have a place to lean on to use the night mode.

The terminal captures enough light and is capable of showing the right level of detail, something with which I have been quite satisfied in general terms. However, when we talk about portrait mode, the story changes, since, as I told you before, the watercolor effect appears in a very remarkable way.

Is it worth the disbursement for the 108-megapixel camera? Is it an overwhelming difference from its high end? The answer is no. It would help if you did not buy it only for the camera, but for everything that accompanies it in other aspects of the terminal.

The camera is not the only thing we have to look at when talking about this terminal since it is not enough to differentiate this terminal.

When the question "do I buy the Mi Note 10, or the Mi 9?" Comes, the answer is complicated, and it depends a lot on what you look for in a device. But, if you are a person who needs a large battery, a right size screen, you like curvy designs, and you want to try to take advantage of this sizeable 108-megapixel sensor, this terminal is for you.

It is indeed more expensive than the Mi 9, which has a high-end processor, but, on the other hand, this Mi Note 10 gives you things that the Mi 9 is not capable of.
